As the vast majority of states across the country have attracted increasing numbers of immigrants in the past several years, Alabama is a rare case of a state that has seen a significant decline in its foreign-born population. Between 2010 and 2014, the number of foreign-born residents in the state fell by more than 10 percent, with almost 20,000 immigrants leaving Alabama during this time period.
